RCLUB TRACK DAY
On Friday, June 30, the team at Scalar Performance headed to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for a track day hosted by the RCLUB with the GR86 ICE car, known as the "Gas GRrrr." This track day was used as practice for their drivers, in preparation for American Endurance Racing at Virginia International Raceway. By the end of this successful day spent by the track, the team was able get the Gas GRrrr's setup dialed in, collect necessary data, and collect testing times for all drivers!
IN-SHOP UPDATES
When the Scalar Performance team is not racing, practicing or collecting data, they are hard at work in the shop, putting their research to the test, and making all necessary updates and modifications to both the SCR1 all-electric touring race car and the GR86 ICE car. This month, the team has been experimenting with things such as different spring weights, with the end goal of getting the cars to be as light as possible.
And if it wasn't obvious already, here at Scalar Performance, branding is everything. Co-founders Brian and Joel, with precision in mind, toyed around with adding the Scalar logo to a number of components on the SCR1. It's the little things in life!
AMERICAN ENDURANCE RACING AT VIRGINIA INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
On the weekend of July 15, the team at Scalar Performance made their way to Virginia, to participate in American Endurance Racing hosted by Virginia International Raceway. With six talented drivers on the team, Scalar Performance brought out the GR86 Gas GRrrr, and ran it on Friday for practice and qualifying, and on Saturday and Sunday for two eight-hour long races. Endurance racing with the Gas GRrrr allows the team to conduct component testing and use this data as reference in developing the SCR1 all-electric amateur touring race car.
By the end of the race weekend, the team was successful in making a number of improvements, not only to the car itself, but to their strategy as a team. Some of these improvements included perfecting pit stop timing, improving driving techniques and strategies, and most importantly; getting the car home in one piece! As a conclusion, Scalar Performance is proud to announce they finished with a P4 in class, and 12th place out of 42 cars! The team is very excited to bring their learnings back to the shop, and onto the next race weekend.
